WorkSafe has amended exemption HS2207 granted to Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand on 27 August 2024 in relation to the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 and the storage of explosive substances.

WorkSafe has granted an exemption (​HS2207​) to ​Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand​ (CAA) from compliance with regulations 9.18(1), 9.23(3)(c), 9.27(1) [only in respect of the controlled zone], 9.27(2)(a)-(c) of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 in relation to the storage of explosive substances.

WorkSafe has granted an exemption (SEP2403) to Handley Industries 2022 Limited from compliance with regulation 11.29(1), 11.36(2)(c) and 11.37(4) of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 which require that hazardous substances are used or held in a type D store or a type 3 workroom at 77 Hillside Road, Glenfield, Auckland.

WorkSafe has granted an exemption to the Civil Aviation Authority from compliance with regulations 9.23(3) and 9.27 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 commencing on 1 December 2017.

WorkSafe has amended an exemption granted to Pan Pac Forest Products Ltd from compliance with Regulation 12.9 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017.

WorkSafe has granted an exemption (​HS2307​) to ​Pharmalink Extracts Limited​ from compliance with regulations 15.64, 15.69(2) and 15.69(3) of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 in relation to three stationary tanks, V820 (serial number: MS 7364), V220 (serial number: 146499) and V220 (serial number: 6377) located at ​379 Appleby Highway, Richmond, Nelson​.

WorkSafe has granted an exemption (​HS2206​) to ​CBRE Limited​ from compliance with ​regulations 17.63(7)(e) and 17.64(2)(b)​ in relation to the three stationary tanks located on level 1 and the service tank located on level 6 of the ANZ Tower at ​21-29 Albert Street, Auckland​. 

WorkSafe has granted an exemption (HS0020G) to the ​New Zealand Police​ (NZ Police) from compliance with regulations 9.18(1), 9.23(3)(c) and 9.27(2)(b)-(d) of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 in relation to the storage of explosive substances.

WorkSafe has granted an exemption (​HS2308​) to ​Antarctica New Zealand​ from compliance with regulations 2.5, 2.6(4), 2.10, 8.1(1), 10.3, 10.26(2), and 10.30 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 for the transport, use and storage of unleaded petrol and kerosene fuels by Antarctica New Zealand in the Antarctica field environment, where the field environment is defined as outside Scott Base and McMurdo Station.

WorkSafe has exempted United Paints Limited from compliance with regulations 10.28, 11.30, 11.34, 11.36 and 11.37 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017.

WorkSafe has exempted Tru-Tech Fibreglass Industries Limited from compliance with regulations 11.37 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017.

WorkSafe has exempted Contact Energy and BYC Investments Limited (the Parties) from compliance with regulation 11.21 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 and reduced the separation distance to protected places for the 4,490 litre above ground LPG tank at the NPD Lincoln Road service station located at 55 Lincoln Road, Addington Christchurch and shown in BD Group Design (2016) Ltd drawing number N66171-E006, revision C.

WorkSafe has exempted Rockgas Limited and Jas & Jas Enterprises Limited (the Parties) from compliance with regulation 11.21 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017.

WorkSafe has exempted Rockgas Limited and SAI Group Limited (the Parties) from compliance with regulation 11.21 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 for the 4,325 litre above ground LPG tank (Indeng tank, #122008) at the Mobil Puhinui service station located at 286 Puhinui Road, Papatoetoe, Auckland and shown in ECL Group Ltd drawing titled HSNO DRAWING, revision 1, dated 29/07/2016.

WorkSafe has granted an exemption to Flint Group New Zealand Limited in accordance with section 220 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 from compliance with regulation 11.30 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017.

WorkSafe has granted an exemption (HS2205) to Todd Petroleum Mining Company Limited from compliance with regulation 17.22(1)(a) of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 in relation to the reduced separation distance between stationary tanks containing methanol and a non-flammable corrosion inhibitor at seven wellsites.

WorkSafe has granted an exemption (SEP2201) to Rockgas Limited from compliance with regulation 11.21(3)(a) of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 in relation to the reduced separation distance of a LPG tank (tank number 121156; serial number 4309) located at Lot 10 DP477452, (GPS coordinates 45.858107, 170.361873), 180 Duke Road North, Mosgiel to the neighbouring protected place at Lot 3, (DP477452).

We have exempted McKenzie Balfour and Associates Ltd trading as OnLine Distribution from compliance with regulations 11.30 and 11.34 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017.

WorkSafe has granted an exemption (HS2208) to Elgas Limited from compliance with regulation 15.74(1) of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 to permit the use of two tank barrels identified as X8705 and X8615 for holding LPG for the purposes of delivery by in-situ filling of cylinders at Elgas client sites.
