Rigging refers to the use of mechanical load-shifting equipment and associated gear to move, place or secure a load. Lifting loads with rigging predominantly involves working and/or load traversing at height. Risks of workers falling, or suspended loads falling must be considered.

We have produced guidance on how to be safe when load-lifting with rigging.

Approved code of practice for load-lifting rigging

This code provides recommendations and procedures for safe practice while carrying out lifting with rigging.  It includes guidance for determining the appropriate loading methods, configurations and equipment for load-lifting in construction.

Note: As there may be some minor errors in the load charts for chain slings, we recommend that manufacturer charts are used.
