Facts in brief:
Employee was operating an angle grinder fitted with a cutting disc. Protective guard had been removed by the defendant, contrary to manufacturer’s instructions. Whilst cutting metal plate, a piece of metal sheared off the plate at high speed and struck the employees hand. Hand cut in several places and partial amputation of two fingers.
