The Defendant owns and manages ‘Arthur’s Emporium’ which is based in Whangarei. On 2 May 2013, the Defendant imported 504 x 4L tins of enamel-based ‘Han Hu’ brand paint into New Zealand. Investigations carried out by MBIE/WorkSafe revealed that the paint was a flammable substance. The Defendant failed to provide EPA approval of importing the paint. Two compliance orders were issued but were not complied or followed.
