WorkSafe is consulting on four new draft asbestos-related guidance documents.
These four draft guidance documents are part of a wider suite of asbestos-related guidance currently under development.
The drafts in the wider suite are being developed in three stages. This is the first stage. Read more about the stages of asbestos guidance development
The suite of asbestos-related guidance is intended to:
- provide guidance to PCBUs and workers that work with or on asbestos material to enable them to meet their legal duties
- provide information that is in line with current best practices
- provide information about asbestos to other people who may also encounter asbestos material
- be structured in a way that is user-friendly, so that specific audiences can find the information they need easily.
Who can provide feedback?
Anyone is welcome to provide feedback. We are particularly interested in receiving feedback from people who:
- work in the asbestos industry
- work closely with the asbestos industry
- work in trades that encounter asbestos as part of their work
- represent PCBUs or workers that work with or encounter asbestos as part of their work
- own, manage, or live in properties that may contain asbestos
- work in the health and safety sector.

- The current Approved Code of Practice: Management and removal of asbestos and other published guidance should still be referred to as WorkSafe’s primary guidance for managing asbestos. See the asbestos section of our website
