Event summary:
The Fire Service notified Energy Safety of a fire involving a leaking camping cooker. They advised that the owner was testing the cooker prior to going camping. A leak ignited and the user received light burns to face. When the Fire Service arrived the cooker was burning normally. All the plastic componentry of the cooker was destroyed in fire.

Outcome of investigation:
The cooker is believed to come in two pieces - the burner head as one piece, and the tap module as the other. Looking at the burn patterns in the photographs supplied the leak may have come from the join of the two pieces, rather than between the burner and the canister. The person assembling the cooker failed to test for leaks before igniting.
