In mines and tunnels, fire and uncontrolled explosions are extremely dangerous and often deadly. Owners, operators, and site managers all have an obligation to minimize the risk of fire and explosion.

We have produced practical guidance for those involved in mining on how to meet fire or explosion obligations.

This approved code of practice can assist a site senior executive in developing a fire or explosion principal hazard management plan. When developing this plan it’s important to consult workers and health and safety representatives, so this guidance can also help them in understanding their responsibilities.
