Part 3 of the electric vehicle charging safety guidelines applies to electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE).

Scope of review

The Guidelines will remain in their current format.

However, the review may involve alteration, removal or addition of the text in the Guidelines. It may also involve inclusions of new or newly recognised technology as well as removal of outdated technology. It may also involve citation of new or updated standards, as well as the removal of recognition of standards.

We do not intend to include requirements specific to heavy vehicles at this time.

Completed comment forms must be received by WorkSafe – Energy Safety by 27 February 2017 at the email address to comments@energysafety.govt.nz. Comments not received by WorkSafe – Energy Safety by the 27 February 2017 or not on the comment form may not be considered.

Incorporation of comments

Energy Safety’s working group will assess the comments and take these into account as needed to form a technical final draft.

The draft will then be circulated by WorkSafe – Energy Safety to other Government departments for their comments on the technical draft.

Working Group

WorkSafe – Energy Safety will form a working group to assess comments made about the guide. This working group is to be made up of people convened by the Manager – Energy Safety, and be made up of members that have expertise in one or more of:

  • Electrical installations
  • In service testing of fittings
  • Inspection of electrical installations and fittings
  • Manufacturing EVSE
  • Use of electrical fittings in conjunction with EVSE
  • Writing of standards
  • Knowledge of IEC standards related to EVSE.
