We have produced guidance intended to assist owners or managers to self-manage their shallow geothermal bore systems. It is aimed primarily at hotel and motel owners who have geothermally heated swimming pools or mineral pools, or plant such as steam boxes.
These guidelines apply to shallow geothermal bores, which are defined as wells not exceeding 150 metres in depth, and covers the entire system from production to re-injection.
Hydrogen sulphide
Hydrogen sulphide (Hâ‚‚S) is a highly toxic, colourless gas which occurs in a variety of natural and industrial settings. This quick guide provides information on the risks and effects of exposure to hydrogen sulphide, where it can be found (which includes geothermal areas), and how to manage the risks.
