Energy Safety was unable to reliably determine the fire cause from the Fire Service report which suggested electrical ignition, but with a low certainty. The time of the fire was midday with no one present at the address. An electrical cause was deemed most likely in the absence of any other identifiable possible causes. More information was requested from Fire and Emergency New Zealand, but no data was made available to investigate this fire further.
