Today is World Day for Safety and Health at Work. It's also the International Commemoration Day for Dead and Injured Workers. We remember those who have died at work and commit to ensuring everyone comes home from work safe and well.
Each year in New Zealand up to 900 people die from work-related illnesses, and 50-60 die from work-related injuries.
WorkSafe fully supports World Day for Safety and Health at Work which is promoted by the International Labour Organisation. More information is available at the ILO website(external link).
The ILO’s campaign for the 2017 World Day for Safety and Health at Work focuses on the critical need for countries to improve their capacity to collect and utilize reliable occupational safety and health (OSH) data.
